Movie Poster

analysis:

On this page, I will be analying two different movie posters. I will be doing this to show my understanding on how movie advertsiments are made and how they catch the eye of its target audience.

The first poster I will be analysing will be Jaws. This poster uses bright colour schemes to catch the audiences attention; an example of this would be the white background to the bright clear water. The protagonists on the poster are in the middle of the poster making them both the centre of interest. The shark is there to show that the film will be a horror or even action based movie, The shark is also there to compare the size of it ton the victim which would be the woman swimming on top of thne water. The USP (Unique-selling point) of the poster describes that it was based of a popular book, this is to describe to audiences that the movie will be as good as the novel. This also describes to the fans of the book that there is a film incoming. The title of the film is in bright red. it's red to stand out to the white background and to draw attention from the light blue sea.

This poster is advertising a movie known as 'The broken'. The woman in the poster must be the main protagonist because she is in the middle of the poster meaning she is the center of interest. Also she is also the only character introduced in the poster. The colour pallet of this poster is very dark and dull, This is to show that this film could be based on a dark backk story or it could be in a horror or errie kind olf movie genre. The main protagonist's head seems to be all shattered to pieces. This is to introduce to the audience that the film could be full of dangerous events that could be life threatening to the charaters. The tag line says 'face your fears'. This is to also add on to the point that this film could be in the horror genre. The USP (Unique-selling point) on this poster is refering to another film thatg the same people or director has made, they added this to attract the audiences from that film to say that this next one will be as good or linked in a way.

Jaws

The Broken

Baby Driver

This final poster is advertising a recent film known as 'Baby Driver'. The poster has the main protagonist, in a close up shot. As the biggest part of the poster. They do this to show the audiences that this is the main charater and the movie will be about him. The style of the poster is a popart like style that stays in a purple/pink colour pallet. This is to make the poster stand out to the rest of the adertisments. The main protagonist is starring down at a car, this is to show to the audience that he is intersted in cars and may be involved in some action. This also supports the name of the movie because cars need to be driven. In the main protagonists glasses shows more charaters. The advertisment does this to show that the main character has some allies and possibly enemines. And finally the director name is shown on the top of this poster. This is to show the fans of this director's films (example: Scott Pilgram VS The World, Shaun of the Dead).
